Your Chromebook automatically checks for and downloads operating system updates when connected to the internet.

Finish an update

1. When your Chromebook downloads a software update:
   • At the bottom right, next to time, find the "Update available" notification.
2. In the notification, select Restart.
   • Your Chromebook will restart and update.

Tip: To learn more about the newest Chromebook features, at the bottom right, next to time, in the "Update available" notification, select Learn more about the latest ChromeOS update.

If you use your Chromebook at work or school

1. When your Chromebook needs a software update, you’ll find one of the following notifications:
   • Blue: An update is recommended.
   • Orange: An update is required.
2. Select Restart to update.
   • Your Chromebook will restart and update.
